The announcement was made on Friday by Dr. Bello Muhammed Matawalle, Minister of State for Defence, who also thanked the President for his prompt action.
Matawalle praised Tinubu for making sure that the three-month pay rise was paid on time and that money was released to repay pension arrears and other unpaid benefits for retired military members.
Military personnel have already received payment notices for the salary hikes, according to a statement released by Mr. Henshaw Ogubike, the Ministry of Defense’s Director of Press and Public Relations.
The Minister emphasised that the administration is still committed to settling unpaid pension arrears in order to improve the quality of life for those who have served the country, and he commended President Tinubu for his steadfast dedication to the welfare of active and retired military people.
Matawalle also praised Mr. Wale Edun, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, for his efforts in making sure the money was disbursed successfully.
Assuring them of the President’s determination to raise morale and offer the assistance required to combat insecurity throughout the nation, he urged the Nigerian military to continue doing their jobs with unwavering determination.
“Be assured that Mr. President is dedicated to uplifting our military forces as they confront the challenges of insecurity, despite initial setbacks,” he said.
Matawalle reiterated the government’s commitment to ending insecurity while highlighting the vital role played by the Nigerian military in the fight against terrorism, insurgency, and other criminal activities.
In his closing remarks, he assured the Armed Forces of President Tinubu’s unwavering support and dedication to enhancing their preparedness and resilience in defending the country.
