This highlights the importance of emergency services and community vigilance in handling accidents effectively and ensuring public safety.
Reports say that the event took place around 6 p.m. on Friday.
The Agege Fire and Rescue crew quickly took control of the situation after putting out the fire caused by the explosion of sets of different-sized kegs containing an unknown chemical that were stored in an open area with gates and fences.
Director of the Lagos Fire Service, Mrs. Margaret Adeseye, said that the first investigation showed that the fire started when the chemicals that were left out in the sun exploded.
Adeseye also said that an investigation had begun to find out who the owner was so that the right steps could be taken and what kind of chemicals were being stored in a residential area where they were directly exposed to the sun.
“The rescued woman is still responding to treatment for first-degree burns that she sustained,” Adeseye said.
