
German citizen arrested in Russia
According to Russian news agencies, the FSB security services arrested a German-Russian citizen on Tuesday for allegedly preparing to “sabotage” a rail line on Kyiv’s orders.German citizen arrested in Russia
The FSB statement accused the 2003-born man of “prepared the sabotage of a section of railway line in the city of Nizhny Novgorod with an explosive device” for a “financial reward” from Ukraine’s SBU security service.
It said “Means of communication” found at the suspect’s home showed SBU “representative” messages.
Nikolai Gaiduk, another German citizen, was arrested in northwestern Kaliningrad for sabotaging energy installations several weeks earlier.
The FSB claims he received explosives and orders to attack a Hamburg-based Ukrainian.
Since Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022, authorities have charged more Westerners with sabotage, treason, and terrorism.
On November 20, Germany’s foreign ministry reported at least 12 German prisoners in Russia.
