Being honest nearly got me in trouble

Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), revealed yesterday that he almost faced conflicts with some Nigerians after urging Nigerians to pray for divine intervention against powerful cabals allegedly hindering private refineries’ success.Being honest nearly got me in trouble

He said this at the annual Holy Ghost Congress, Onwards Christian Soldiers, in Redemption City on the Lagos-Ibadan Motorway.

Pastor Adeboye did not name those involved, but he mentioned a statement he made weeks earlier at the church’s annual Abuja Special Holy Ghost Service that nearly got him in trouble.

He said: “I said something during the Abuja Holy Ghost Service that I won’t repeat because I nearly got in trouble for telling the truth. Certain events in Nigeria make you wonder: Are we cursed? Despite having fewer resources, some nations seem to be doing better. I’ll skip that.”

Pastor Adeboye previously expressed frustration over the billions of naira spent repairing the four government-owned refineries, which still malfunction.

Adeboye stressed the value of divine light to individuals, families, communities, and nations:

“Let me just say tonight, in the name above all names, our nations will be lit.”

A genuine relationship with God would end all emptiness, storms, and challenges, he advised believers.

“Who is behind a soldier determines his power,” he said. You will become like your Commander-in-Chief if you follow Him. When our Commander-in-Chief first spoke, He said, ‘Let there be light,’ and there was light.”

He said God’s voice was authoritative: “When He said it, He didn’t whisper; it was a command, loud and clear. He loudly summoned Lazarus from the grave (John 11:39-44).

An earthquake is predicted by a sound before it happens. As an aeroplane takes off, it makes noise. God spoke and brought light under certain conditions. Earth was formless and empty. Without form means confusion. Where darkness is, confusion follows.”
